ARGON: This is a photocoagulation laser that performs a thermal action, resulting in photocoagulation of the ocular tissues to which it is applied. It is a therapeutic treatment carried out in the office. To perform the procedure, the ophthalmologist inserts a lens into the affected area to protect the cornea and applies the laser to the abnormal eyelashes to destroy the follicles responsible for the abnormal growth. This allows the eyelashes to grow back in the correct direction and reduces discomfort and potential ocular complications associated with distichiasis and trichiasis.
